Events - Quilting Bee and 2nd Saturday Stitchers

During the cold winter months, volunteers gather to create a unique one of a kind quilt that will be donated to the museum for the annual quilt raffle. The proceeds from the quilt raffle tickets help underwrite the operating costs of the museum.

Who can participate?

Anyone who would like to learn how to make a quilt block and is able to operate a sewing machine.

What do I need to bring?

Bring your operating sewing machine, basic supplies: scissors, thread, seam ripper, and a can-do attitude. Fabric, pattern and instruction will be provided by volunteers who lead the event. If you can not bring a sewing machine, let us know as some volunteers have extras.

All fabric is donated by a local quilter for these quilts, there is no cost to the museum or participants.

Each quilt made is different from the year before. Watch the calendar for future events.

When is the next quilting event?

On the second Saturday of selected months, we will offer an opportunity to work on your own project with other stitchers. Bring your own machine and project and enjoy the company of other like minded folks who like to sew. Please enter through the back door of the museum between 9 - 9:30 am and spend the morning with us. Basic cutting tools and an ironing station will be set up. Everyone is welcome. If you are a new quilter, there will be veterans available that may be able to offer some coaching on a challeging project.

Our next quilting bee will be in early 2018 where we will make a quilt top for the annual quilt raffle that is held the first weekend in December. There is no cost involved in our quilting bees but always appreciate a financial donation to help support this organization if you feel inclined.
